Turnberry Resort Hotel –
It doesn’t get much better than this (because it can’t)

The white stone, red-roofed Turnberry Resort Hotel sits atop a hill overlooking the links below and is one of golf’s iconic retreats. The views stretch out across the Firth of Clyde to Ailsa Craig, and the Mull of Kintyre beyond. Turnberry is a watch word for luxury
A luxury, ocean facing room
With an 800 acre estate to support it, the Turnberry Resort Hotel it comes as no surprise to learn that Turnberry is a ‘resort’. What people are perhaps less well aware of however is that dating from 1906, the Turnberry Resort Hotel was actually the world’s first, purpose built golf resort. Naturally the Turnberry Resort Hotel has all the associated recreational leisure from quad bike to horse riding along the beach. If you prefer a slightly slower pace then the facilities, and associated health and beauty treatments allow you to simply relax in first class surroundings. Non-golfers who value a bit of pampering and changing down a few gears are very well catered for

Turnberry’s reputation for top-class golf was cemented in 1977 with the ‘duel in the sun’. Myths are made in a moment, but legends last for a lifetime. The greatest shoot-out on a golf course is celebrated in one of Turnberry’s many award winning restaurants.

We normally submit Tripadvisor reviews in support of our hotel offers. For reasons of consistency, we’ll do so again, but in truth the Turnberry Resort Hotel is one example where reputation alone is sufficient.
Turnberry also generates its fair share of spectacular summer sun-sets, so you can take a dress circle seat in the evening whilst you unwind with a nice drink in the company of friends. The views stretch out across the Firth of Clyde to Ailsa Craig, and the Mull of Kintyre beyond, allowing you to watch the sky slowly start to scream red in this idyllic location.
A “sunset on fire” viewed from the hotel is typical of Turnberry. The Isle of Arran and Stevenson Lighthouse are in profile
Turnberry Resort Hotel – Single Supplements
Even though we have to impose some supplementary surcharges in line with passing costs on, we endeavour to adopt a sincere position that doesn’t seek to penalise such travellers and exploit your situation, occasionally absorbing some of the cost ourselves. Despite our commitment to fair play, there is still ultimately only two bottom-line options:
1: Pay a single traveller supplement
2: If you indicate a willingness, we can attempt to pair you in a twin room
It is worth mentioning that a single person will rarely be allowed to play a round of golf solo, and you will almost certainly be required to join a group. This can sometimes work to your advantage though, as you’ll be more flexible.

Most hotels operate a cancellation premium of some description. The amount charged however varies between chains, and even different hotels within the same chain, it also fluctuates with little sense of predictability. In addition, the terms and conditions also differ with 3 days to 24 hours being typical cut-off points beyond which cover is invalidated. Group bookings can find they’re subjected to 28 days given that a hotelier takes a bigger risk accepting such a reservation to a mass cancellation. We try to reserve piecemeal as a result
Our policy is to recover what we can for you, but we are restricted in line with what the hotel offers. It’s always helpful to check the individual hotels T&C’s. We advise you if booking by credit card, to check that you don’t hold an added service item that came when you signed up. This might cover you.
Since the renovation, the Stevenson lighthouse has been converted into a new ‘halfway house’ and two luxurious apartments to let. You can lie in your bath watching the waves roll in below if you want
